Sealed enclosure verified to a water vapor transmission rate not exceeding 0.001 gram per 24 hours per 100 square inches, tested per ASTM D4279 constant atmosphere method. Formula II may then be used.

Barrier area is both faces of the bag, so a flat bag counts twice its face dimensions. Use the finished bag size, including enough length to permit two subsequent reseals after inspection as 5.2.3.7 requires.

Pounds of each material sealed inside the enclosure. Include the inner container when one is used. Leave blank where a material is not present.

The result is the minimum quantity the standard computes from the values you enter; it does not replace the packaging engineer's judgment on enclosure selection, dunnage weight or item characteristics.
