The Five Core Methods of Preservation

Method 10 – Physical Protection
Used for items that don’t require a chemical preservative but need physical protection from impact, abrasion, and dirt. -

Method 30 – Waterproof Protection
Designed to keep water and grease out during storage or transit. Often uses heat-sealed bags or laminated wraps. -
Method 40 – Watervaporproof Protection
For long-term preservation where moisture vapor is the main concern. -
Method 50 – Watervaporproof with Desiccant
The most protective methods — used when humidity control is critical. It combines barrier bags, desiccants, and humidity indicators to maintain a dry interior environment.
