ASTM-D-5486, Type III - Heavy Duty Grade Hot Melt Packaging Tape is a premium, waterproof, high-strength carton-sealing tape that replaces the canceled government specification PPP-T-60E (Type 3). Engineered for high-stress, heavy-duty packaging, HP-500 delivers fast tack, aggressive bonding, and a long-lasting, permanent seal on a wide range of surfaces.

Federal Specification PPP-T-60E (Nov. 6, 1986) was officially canceled in 1995, and items formerly procured under this spec are now purchased under ASTM Standard Specification D 5486, Type III.

Built on a 50-micron cast biaxially oriented polypropylene (BOPP) backing, this tape uses a high-performance synthetic rubber/resin hot melt adhesive that provides an instant, permanent bond—even on over-stuffed, under-filled, or heavily loaded cartons.

Its special release coating ensures smooth, low-force unwind for fast application in both manual and automated sealing systems.
